This study investigates the impact of delivery mode and the functional status of the lingual frenulum on neonatal sucking power. Using a prospective cohort design, the research analyzes neonatal oral motor function to explore its potential implications for early feeding practices and oral development. The findings highlight significant correlations between lingual frenulum functionality, delivery mode, and neonatal sucking efficiency. The study advocates for routine screening of neonatal lingual frenulum function to identify potential feeding difficulties early, and tailored support and intervention strategies for neonates delivered via cesarean section, focusing on enhancing oral motor development. Furthermore, it promotes interdisciplinary collaboration between neonatologists and pediatric dentists to effectively address oral motor issues during the neonatal period.
