This study evaluates the impacts of three sample preparation methods on the major and trace element contents of samples. A set of 54 certified reference materials (CRMs) was used to establish the calibration curve, while another set of 19 CRMs was measured to validate the experimental results. A total of 18 sets of concentration data covering both major and trace elements are provided. Experimental results show that the shake cup method (SH) yields results that best match the certified reference values.

Processing method: The prepared thin sample sections were analyzed via wavelength-dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (WD-XRF).
Data quality: Matrix effects were corrected by combining the theoretical α coefficient method and the experimental coefficient method; the accuracy was evaluated using the Whitty-Leveillé derivative equation.
Applications: This dataset was employed to establish calibration curves and verify the accuracy and precision of sample preparation methods, with the objective of providing more accurate and straightforward sample preparation protocols for a wide variety of sample types.
