A vast amount of work has been conducted on understanding metal organic frameworks (MOFs) in their powder form. However, for use in industrial processes, powders will need to be processed into formed parts, such as pellets or granules. Using neutron diffraction this work aims to understand crystallographic changes that occur to the MOF Cu-BTC when it is subjected repeatedly to mild pressures - analogues to the process of granulation. This work, once linked to in-house testing data will give an unparalleled insight into the forming of this MOF for commercial applications.

关于粉末形态的金属有机框架(metal organic frameworks, MOFs)的研究已开展大量工作。然而,在工业过程中应用时,粉末需加工成成型部件,例如丸粒(pellets)或颗粒(granules)。本研究通过中子衍射(neutron diffraction),旨在探究MOF材料Cu-BTC在反复承受与制粒过程(granulation)类似的轻度压力时发生的晶体学变化(crystallographic changes)。一旦将本研究与内部测试数据关联,将为该MOF材料的商业化应用成型过程提供前所未有的见解。
