Damage Transfer Python Script for Abaqus

This dataset is supplementary material for the PhD thesis titled “Virtual Testing of Aerospace Composite Laminates: Impact and Fatigue” by Peyman Shabani, submitted to Carleton University in 2025.

This Python script can be used to read the Abaqus output file (.odb), identify elements that experienced various failure modes, and create corresponding element sets for each composite failure mode and their combinations in the Abaqus/CAE file (.cae). In the thesis, the script was used to transfer damage from the low-velocity impact (LVI) model to the compression-after-impact (CAI) model, as well as to transfer damage between LVI models in the repeated impact simulations.

本数据集为佩曼·沙巴尼（Peyman Shabani）于2025年提交至卡尔顿大学的博士学位论文“航空航天复合材料层合板虚拟测试：冲击与疲劳”的补充材料。
本Python脚本可用于读取Abaqus输出数据库文件（.odb），识别出现各类失效模式的单元，并在Abaqus/CAE模型文件（.cae）中为每种复合材料失效模式及其组合生成对应的单元集。在该论文中，该脚本被用于将低速冲击（LVI）模型中的损伤传递至冲击后压缩（CAI）模型，同时也用于在重复冲击模拟的各LVI模型之间实现损伤的传递。
