This project assesses the structure of soil fungal communities in a long-term N addition experiment at Cedar Creek Ecosystem Science Reserve, Minnesota, USA. Soil samples were taken in October 2018 from replicate plots with no, low, and high levels of nitrogen addition that have been fertilized continuously since 1983. Fungal communities were characterized with high-throughput sequencing of the ITS2 gene region using the primers in Taylor et al. (2017) Applied & Environmental Microbiology. Details about the experiment, including earlier fungal community responses, are available in Avis et al. (2003) New Phytologist.
