The present study pertains to the bond behavior of GFRP, BFRP and steel bars in Self-Consolidating Concrete (SCC) with and without substitute. Three types of SCC mixtures, namely SCC with only Portland Cement (PC), SCC with Fly Ash (FA) as substitute for PC and SCC with Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GBFS) as substitute for PC, were prepared. Within the scope of the study, 36 hinged beam specimens with a constant embedment length were tested and the experimental bond stress values at failure were compared to the analytical bond strength estimates from the development length equations in various international codes and literature. The tests at the 28th and 90th days after concrete cast unveiled the fact that BFRP bars have bond performances and bond strength values close to the respective performances and values of the steel bars. Yet, the related values and bond performances of GFRP bars were shown to remain well below the respective values and performances of BFRP and steel bars. The development length equations, previously proposed by the authors, were found to provide reasonable and accurate estimates for specimens with BFRP and GFRP bars, while all of the code equations failed to estimate the experimental behavior of the specimens accurately.
