坂上遺跡 縄文時代中期土器(報告書No.16-10)

The Sakagami Site, believed to be the largest Jomon-period settlement within the village. These are pottery sherds dating to the mid-Middle Jomon period (approximately 5,300 years ago), unearthed during an excavation survey of a portion of the site in 1998, with a width of approximately 11 cm. It is observable that decorative patterns were created using two distinct tools across the entire surface of the sherds. The bulging central section is part of a decorative motif known as an "abstract design", which is thought to imitate some form of living organism. A large number of artifacts from this period have been discovered at the Sakagami Site.
