Isolated from the rhizosphere of poplar trees at a phytoremediation site, this bacterium has been shown the capacity to degrade a range of diesel range organics in vitro. It has been shown to be an effective producer of biosurfactants and may be useful as an inoculant for bioremediation of diesel contaminated environments.
