On the way back, the mission received <em>Emperor Jiaqing’s Reply to King George III</em> (1816), which was accompanied by a Latin translation. In the reply, the emperor instructed the King not to send an ambassador anymore, as the embassy was not obedient in following Qing court ceremonies. The Latin version was translated by Christian priests serving in the Qing court (L. Liu, 2019, p. 18).
使团返程途中收到了《嘉庆皇帝致乔治三世国王复函》（1816年），该文书附有拉丁语译本。在该谕旨中，嘉庆皇帝指示乔治三世国王勿再遣使来华，缘由是此前的使团未恪守清朝宫廷礼仪。该拉丁语译本由供职于清朝宫廷的基督教传教士译出（L. Liu, 2019, 第18页）。
