Influenza C virus co-infections, clinical symptoms, and genomics from pediatric acute respiratory cases, Shandong, China

Five pediatric acute respiratory cases diagnosed with influenza C virus (ICV) infection were reported in Shandong, China and exhibited a wide spectrum of symptoms including fever, headache, cough, expectoration, throat congestion, vomiting, or diarrhea. Co-infection with other respiratory pathogenic viruses were also detected in four of these cases. Two genomes of ICV were obtained, and clustered in the S1-sublineage of C/Sao Paulo/378/82 (SP82) indicating genetically diverse ICV strains have been circulating undetected in China.

中国山东地区报告了5例确诊感染丙型流感病毒（influenza C virus，ICV）的儿科急性呼吸道感染病例，此类病例表现出广泛的临床症状，包括发热、头痛、咳嗽、咳痰、咽部充血、呕吐及腹泻。其中4例病例同时检出与其他呼吸道致病性病毒的混合感染。本研究获得2株ICV的全基因组序列，其聚类于C/Sao Paulo/378/82（SP82）的S1亚分支，这表明遗传多样性的丙型流感病毒毒株曾在中国处于未被察觉的传播循环中。
