The goal of this project was to determine how the pea-canola intercropping system (peaola) alters the rhizosphere microbial community compared to monoculture pea and canola. The sequences associated with this project are of the 16S V4 region and were produced using Illumina amplicon sequencing. Characterization of the microbial community was done showing its structure and predicted function. Achieving a baseline understanding of the peaola microbiome and its variation from monoculture pea and canola will give us insight into how the microbial community could be contributing to crop success.

本研究旨在明确:相较于单作(monoculture)豌豆与单作油菜,豌豆-油菜间作系统(peaola)会如何改变根际微生物群落(rhizosphere microbial community)。本项目关联的测序序列对应16S V4区域,采用Illumina扩增子测序(Illumina amplicon sequencing)技术获取。本研究完成了该微生物群落的表征工作,明确了其群落结构与预测功能。明确豌豆-油菜间作系统微生物组(microbiome)的基础特征及其与单作豌豆、单作油菜的群落差异,将有助于我们解析微生物群落如何助力作物生长成效。
