An enrichment and isolation media procedure were performed to obtain bacteria with lower nutritional requirements and high tolerant to Cupper and Iron from two different mining tails from the Sonoran River basin. Two different strains were isolated and identified from San Felipe de Jesus mining tail from Staphylococcus genus and one of them identified as Microbacterium ginsengisoli, On the other hand, three isolated strains for Nacozari de Garcia mining tail were found: Burkholderia cenocepacia, Sphingomonas sp. and Staphylococcus warneri. Our results reveal significant diversity differences between the two compared sites and report species not previously documented at each location. Importanly, all these species exhibited a tolerance up to 300 ppm for a Cu and Fe multimetal solution indicating their potential for biotechnological application. Subsequently, a consortium was formed with these isolated bacteria, and for a potential biotechnological application of these bacteria, they were immobilized in two biocomposites of pecan nutshell, with the larger pecan nutshell biocomposite achieving greater immobilization.
