The goal is to characterize the gut microbiome in female NOD mice during the development of type 1 diabetes. It is of interest to elucidate the modulation of the gut microbiome in response to treatment with an epigenetic drug that affords protection against type 1 diabetes in NOD mice. The data obtained will have implications for the understanding of the regulation of type 1 diabetes via the gut microbiome. The knowledge gained will be of translational value to treat patients with type 1 diabetes.

本研究旨在解析1型糖尿病发病进程中雌性NOD（Non-Obese Diabetic）小鼠的肠道微生物组特征，并阐明可使NOD小鼠免受1型糖尿病侵害的表观遗传药物对其肠道微生物组的调控效应。本研究获取的数据将为理解肠道微生物组介导的1型糖尿病调控机制提供重要支撑，所得研究成果亦将为1型糖尿病患者的临床治疗转化提供潜在价值。
