It is constructed via optimal interpolation estimation, integrating L3 along-track measurements from various altimeter missions, and includes parameters such as Absolute Dynamic Topography, Sea Surface Height Anomaly, Geostrophic Current Velocity Anomaly, and Absolute Geostrophic Velocity. The time coverage spans from 1993 to 2023. GOSSHD undergoes quality control and preprocessing through DUACS (Data Unification and Altimeter Combination System). This method involves steps including cross-calibration, orbit error reduction, crossover adjustment, interpolation, and optimal interpolation to minimize errors and generate a global, consistent, and accurate dataset. Additionally, filtering and optimal interpolation are employed to reduce long-wave errors, followed by the calculation of geostrophic current components.
