What are hermits?

For a good time, I collected and analyzed ("read") as many books and articles on the topic of hermits as I could, and I did this for the purposes of simply learning about hermits and hermitages. What did I learn? Simply put, my understanding of what hermits was re-enforced. Hermits are solitary people -- usually men -- and they are usually interested in delving into religious experiences. Along the way I also learned a bit about hermit crabs.出于研习隐士（hermits）与隐修所（hermitages）相关知识的初衷，我尽可能多地收集并分析（即所谓的"研读"）了该主题下的各类书籍与文章。我从中获得了哪些收获？简言之，我对隐士的认知得到了进一步强化。隐士多为独居之人，且通常为男性，他们往往热衷于深入探索宗教体验。在此过程中，我也顺带了解了一些关于寄居蟹（hermit crabs）的知识。
