Effect of an interprofessional simulation program on patient safety competencies of healthcare professionals in Switzerland: a before and after study

This study aimed to identify the effects of a 12-week interprofessional simulation program, operated between February 2020 and January 2021, on the patient safety competencies of healthcare professionals in Switzerland. The simulation training was based on 2 scenarios of hospitalized patients with septic shock and respiratory failure, and trainees were expected to demonstrate patient safety competencies. A single-group before and after study was conducted after the intervention—simulation program, using a measurement tool (the Health Professional Education in Patient Safety Survey) to measure the perceived competencies of physicians, nurses, and nursing assistants.

本研究旨在明确2020年2月至2021年1月间实施的一项为期12周的跨专业模拟培训项目，对瑞士医护人员患者安全胜任力的影响。该模拟培训设置了脓毒症休克与呼吸衰竭住院患者的2种临床场景，要求参训人员展示其患者安全相关胜任力。本研究采用单组前后对照设计，在干预措施（即本次模拟培训项目）结束后，使用《医护人员患者安全教育调查问卷》（Health Professional Education in Patient Safety Survey）这一测评工具，对医师、护士及护理助理的自我感知胜任力进行测量。
