Microbial Determinants of Endodontic Treatment Failure

Endodontic treatment failures pose a considerable clinical challenge, largely due to persistent microbial infections. In this study, shotgun metagenomics was utilized to profile the microbial communities in 14 endodontic infection cases-comprising 7 primary and 7 post-treatment infections-and to explore potential links with systemic comorbidities. DNA from clinical specimens was sequenced using the Illumina NovaSeq X platform, and data were analyzed using robust bioinformatics pipelines.

根管治疗失败（Endodontic treatment failures）是临床领域极具挑战性的难题，其主要诱因是持续性微生物感染。本研究采用鸟枪宏基因组学（shotgun metagenomics）技术，对14例根管感染病例的微生物群落进行解析——该队列包含7例初发性感染与7例治疗后感染——并探究其与全身性合并症之间的潜在关联。本研究使用Illumina NovaSeq X测序平台对临床样本中的DNA进行测序，并通过稳健的生物信息学分析流程完成数据的处理与分析。
