In everyday life the perceptual system must processes concurrent multidimensional objects. Different theories suggest that this perceptual process involves the attention mechanism. Attention deficit\hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has been related to several deficiencies in the attention mechanism. In the scoop of the present study, we attempted to investigate whether the attentional deficits in ADHD population impact perceptual process in the level of objects and its features when required to represent multidimensional concurrent objects. Fifty-two participants participated in this study, including 26 ADHD and 26 non-ADHD participants. For the purpose of this study, a behavioral paradigm was utilized, in which participants had to perceive a display contains only a small number of objects characterized by concurrent features on two dimensions: color and shape. The results of the current study pointed to impairment among ADHD participants in perceiving recurrent multidimensional objects when compared to control, reflected in slower RTs. In addition, positive correlation was found between the severity of the reported ADHD symptoms and mean RT. For the first time, our findings suggest that ADHD also manifests a perceptual malfunction at the level of representing multidimensional concurrent objects, and its implications where further discussed. <br><br>
日常生活中,人类的感知系统需要处理同时呈现的多维度客体。诸多理论均指出,该感知加工过程依赖注意机制。注意缺陷多动障碍(Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, ADHD)与注意机制的多项功能缺损密切相关。本研究旨在探讨:当需要表征同时呈现的多维度客体时,ADHD群体的注意缺损是否会影响客体及其特征层面的感知加工过程。
本研究共招募52名被试,其中ADHD被试与非ADHD被试各26名。为达成研究目标,本研究采用行为实验范式:要求被试观察仅包含少量客体的视觉呈现界面,这些客体同时具备颜色与形状两个维度的特征。研究结果显示,与对照组被试相比,ADHD被试在识别同时呈现的多维度客体时存在感知功能缺损,具体表现为更长的反应时(Reaction Time, RT)。此外,被报告的ADHD症状严重程度与平均反应时呈显著正相关。本研究首次证实,ADHD群体在表征同时呈现的多维度客体时亦存在感知功能异常,并对该结果的潜在研究意义与应用价值展开了深入讨论。
