本数据集为始新世波罗的海琥珀内含物的原始图像堆栈，是*Prohylomysobia erinaceophilus* Sidorchuk & Bochkov（隶属于蜱螨亚纲(Acari)、绒螨目(Trombidiformes)、真前气门亚目(Eleutherengona)、疥螨科(Myobiidae)）的模式系列标本相关图像。该物种由Sidorchuk等人于2017年发表在《系统古生物学杂志》(Journal of Systematic Paleontology)中。

所用波罗的海琥珀标本最初收藏于Thomas Weiterchan的私人馆藏，馆藏编号为1185（标注为TW 1185），现由GPIH馆藏，馆藏编号4597。标本编号与显微镜放大倍数均标注于文件名中。

图像采集使用Nikon Eclipse 800正置复合显微镜，多数情况下采用60倍水浸物镜。图像堆栈通过Nikon DS-Fi1数码相机（文件名中编码为“Vals”）或Nikon D7000数码相机采集（具体型号参见文件名），并通过Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.7.1进行色彩、噪声与锐度优化。

融合图像通过Helicon Focus Pro 6.5.2软件（采用算法A）生成，必要时会手动从单幅图像中提取关键细节进行补充（文件名中带有“_comb”标识）。

比例尺文件随本数据集一同提供：针对Vals相机采集的图像，比例尺文件存放于单独文件夹中；针对Nikon D7000相机采集的图像堆栈，比例尺文件以附加文件形式附带。
