<div><div>In the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Tempe was well-positioned to pivot wastewater analysis from opioids to analyzing wastewater for SARS COV-2. During the period of February 2020 -October 2022, analysis for opioid biomarkers was suspended to meet emerging needs and laboratory demand created by the pandemic.</div><div><br /></div><div>Tempe, in partnership with Arizona State University's Biodesign Institute, developed protocols to analyze the wastewater for SARS-CoV-2, the virus know to cause the disease COVID-19. 2020年新型冠状病毒肺炎（COVID-19）疫情初期，坦佩市已具备将污水分析方向从阿片类物质检测转向严重急性呼吸综合征冠状病毒2型（SARS-CoV-2）检测的良好条件。2020年2月至2022年10月期间，为应对疫情催生的新兴需求与疫情带来的实验室工作负荷，阿片类生物标志物的检测工作暂停开展。

坦佩市与亚利桑那州立大学（Arizona State University）生物设计研究所（Biodesign Institute）合作，开发了针对污水中SARS-CoV-2的检测方案——该病毒即为引发COVID-19的病原体。亚利桑那州立大学会对坦佩市采集的污水样本进行SARS-CoV-2的存在性与浓度水平检测。
