Iron is the fourth most abundant element in the Earth’s crust. However, the poor solubility of iron due to oxidation of ferrous iron to the almost insoluble ferric iron under aerobic conditions constitutes a considerable challenge for living organisms to obtain sufficient amounts of the iron available. In the present study, we set out to characterize the global gene expression of C. glutamicum under iron limitation in comparison to iron-replete conditions. C. glutamicum cells were cultured under iron deplete (1 µM) or replete (36 µM) conditions and were harvested at late exponential phase (OD600 12–15).
铁是地壳中丰度排名第四的元素。然而,在有氧条件下,亚铁被氧化为几乎不溶的三价铁,导致铁的溶解度大幅降低,这给生物体获取足量可利用铁带来了极大挑战。本研究旨在对比铁限制与铁充足条件下谷氨酸棒杆菌(C. glutamicum)的全基因组基因表达特征。实验中将谷氨酸棒杆菌分别培养于铁匮乏(1 µM)与铁充足(36 µM)的培养基中,并在指数生长后期(OD600为12–15)收集菌体。
