This study aims to assess priority effects in the development of fungal decay communities. Beech (Fagus sylvatica) disks were precolonised singly with a range of wood decay fungi and placed in the field for 12 months. Following this, DNA was extracted from sawdust samples, and sequencing of amplified genetic markers performed to profile the fungal communities within. Understanding the dynamics of fungal decay communities is vital, since it is wood decay fungi that are key determinants of decomposition of recalcitrant lignocellulose and, therefore, of nutrient cycling and carbon sequestration rates in forest ecosystems.

本研究旨在评估真菌腐朽群落发育过程中的优先效应。将山毛榉(Fagus sylvatica)木材圆盘经单一木质腐朽真菌预定殖后,置于野外环境暴露培养12个月。随后从木屑样本中提取脱氧核糖核酸(DNA),并对扩增后的遗传标记进行测序,以解析其中的真菌群落组成。阐明真菌腐朽群落的动态变化至关重要,因为木质腐朽真菌是难降解木质纤维素分解过程的核心调控因子,进而决定森林生态系统的养分循环与碳封存速率。
