Dataset for <i>Foraging flexibility in response to at-sea constraints in a deep diver, the king penguin: an experimental study</i>

35 pairs of breeding king peguins were monitored in two different breeding seasons (2019 N = 14 and 2022 N = 21) and included in an experimental study aiming at increasing the swimming workload at sea. Pairs were included in two different groups (Control, N = 18 and Treated N = 17), Treated birds were fitted with an additionnal dummy logger during two consecutive foraging trips during chick-brooding. We evaluated the effect of the treatment on the foraging behavior at sea of adults and the growth and Survival of their chicks.本实验研究旨在增加王企鹅（king penguins）在海上的游泳工作量，共监测了两个繁殖季节（2019年，N=14；2022年，N=21）的35对繁殖期王企鹅。这些企鹅对被分为两组（对照组，N=18；处理组，N=17）。在育雏期的连续两次觅食之旅中，处理组企鹅被安装了额外的虚拟记录仪（dummy logger）。我们评估了该处理对成年企鹅海上觅食行为及其雏鸟生长和存活的影响。
