Number of teachers in primary education in Ghana 2014-2021

In 2021, the primary school teaching staff in Ghana reached over 172.8 thousand in number. The count of teachers at this educational level has increased over the years. However, important increases were recorded in 2017 and 2019. By 2018, Ghana had weaned itself from the net hiring freeze conditionality of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), enabling the government to employ more teachers into the public education system.
