EFO

Data-driven application ontology for annotation and data visualisation. EFO provides a systematic description of many experimental variables available in EBI databases, and for external projects such as the NHGRI GWAS catalog. It combines parts of several biological ontologies, such as UBERON anatomy, ChEBI chemical compounds, and Cell Ontology. The scope of EFO is to support the annotation, analysis and visualization of data handled by many groups at the EBI and as the core ontology for Open Targets.

用于注释与数据可视化的数据驱动型应用本体。实验因子本体（Experimental Factor Ontology，EFO）对欧洲生物信息研究所（European Bioinformatics Institute，EBI）数据库收录的诸多实验变量，以及美国国家人类基因组研究所（National Human Genome Research Institute，NHGRI）全基因组关联分析目录（GWAS Catalog）等外部项目的实验变量，均提供了系统化描述。该本体整合了UBERON解剖本体、ChEBI化学化合物本体与细胞本体（Cell Ontology）等多款生物本体的部分内容。EFO的应用范畴为支持欧洲生物信息研究所多个团队所处理数据的注释、分析与可视化工作，同时亦是开放靶点平台（Open Targets）的核心本体。
