Background: Few countries have derived reference values for the 30 seconds sit to stand test. There is a lack of literature with respect to 30 seconds sit to stand test reference values in elderly Indian population. Additionally, much of the research on the 30 seconds sit to stand test just has focused on reference values and has not accounted for the possible contribution of factors such as anthropometric measurements influencing the test. So, there is a need to study the association between anthropometric factors and 30 seconds sit to stand test.
Objectives: The objective of the present study was to assess the 30 seconds sit to stand test and study the correlation of anthropometric measures with 30 seconds sit to stand test in the community dwelling elderly population.
Methods: 136 geriatric individuals with ≥ 60 years of age and living independently were recruited in this cross-sectional study. Individuals were selected on the basis of selection criteria. The demographic details and anthropometric measurements were taken. Then the 30 seconds sit to stand test was conducted and the values were noted.
Results: The statistical analysis showed that data was normally distributed by Kolmogorov smirnov test. Hence data was presented as mean ± standard deviation. Pearson coefficient of correlation was used to assess the association between anthropometric measures and 30 seconds sit to stand test. A p value less than 0.05 was considered as statistically significant..
