Effect of natural non-expansive soil cover on water loss and cracking in underlying expansive soil

The data is from a study conducted to investigate the effect of natural non expansive soil cover on underlying expansive soil. Laboratory model experiments were carried out on expansive soil systems with varying thickness of non-expansive soil cover. Suction of the soils were measured prior to the model experiment. The models were subjected to three wet and dry cycles and soil moisture content was measured at various depths. Surface and internal cracks were observed and mentioned. Infiltration rate of the soils was also measured.

本数据集源于一项旨在探究天然非膨胀土（non-expansive soil）覆盖层对下伏膨胀土（expansive soil）影响的研究。针对覆盖层厚度各异的膨胀土体系，研究团队开展了室内模型试验。试验开展前，已测定各土样的吸力（suction）；试验模型历经三次干湿循环，研究人员在不同深度处测定了土壤含水率，并对模型表层与内部裂缝进行了观测记录，同时还测定了土样的入渗率。
