The frequency with which birds deliver food to their young varies based on nestling begging rates, time of day and parental contribution. In monogamous species, both males and females invest substantial time and energy in feeding their offspring. Here, we describe the diet and feeding rate of nestlings by each parent in Yellow-rumped Tinkerbird (Pogoniulus bilineatus). We assessed feeding rate and diet of Pogoniulus bilineatus by videotaping nest visitation of both parents, recording daily from 05:00 to 18:00 for eight days by using a Bushnell Trophy Cam Essential E2 HD. Two-hundred and fifty-six video clips were examined. Daily diet of P. bilineatus nestlings constituted both insects and fruit. We also show that both parents took part in the feeding of nestlings at a P. bilineatus nest.
