Zassho-Cascadia is the culmination of a long-term research enquiry that uses photography to consider seismic histories and rupture probabilities in the tectonic subduction zones of Japan and the Pacific Northwest. It presents the experience, memory and anticipation of catastrophic earthquakes and tsunami in the context of deep time and scientific exploration. This item contains contextualising information about conference presentations given by Vaughan:1. A copy of the public lecture 'Seismic histories and rupture probabilities: photographic perspectives on Japanese earthquakes' given by Vaughan at Exploring Environmental Photography, 1-3 October 2014, at the Institute of Art History, Bern University. Lecture text courtesy of Stephen Vaughan. Used with permission.2. A copy of the conference program for Exploring Environmental Photography, 1-3 October 2014, at the Institute of Art History, Bern University. Programme courtesy of the conference organisers, Sonja Fessel and Ulrike Heine. Used with permission.3. A link to the GALA online overview of Curating the Future, GALA Network Annual Meeting, Centro Studi e Archivio della Comunicazione (CSAC), University of Parma, 5-7 July 2017, at which Vaughan gave a paper entitled 'Curating seismic histories through photographic practice: shared histories of mega-thrust earthquakes in Japan and NW America'. The online overview is available to view using this link.4. Call for papers for Marine Transgressions 7-8 June 2018, at the Create Centre, Bristol, at which Vaughan gave a paper entitled 'Catfish Sleeps and Tohoku: Seismic Histories and Rupture Probabilities in Japan and NW America'. The call for papers is available via this link.5. The Marine Transgressions conference programme. Available via this link. The above links are also available below under 'References'. Material in this item is under copyright and will not to be used or shared without the express written permission of Stephen Vaughan.
