Molecular characterization of the fecal viromes in swine (Sus scrofa domesticus) in northern Thailand

The limited investigations conducted on DNA viruses are inadequate in comprehensively portraying the spectrum of porcine-associated DNA viruses. To gain a deeper insight into the diversity of DNA viruses present in swine, the present study employed metagenomic sequencing to scrutinize the fecal DNA virome of swine specimens procured from the rural backyard farms of the northern region of Thailand. This study region is known to have many backyard farms of swine, a locality renowned for its high concentration of swine domestication and sporadically hotspots of porcine-borne diseases, such as Japanese encephalitis virus and hepatitis E virus.
现有针对DNA病毒的研究较为有限,尚不足以全面刻画猪相关DNA病毒的完整谱系。为深入解析猪源DNA病毒的多样性,本研究采用宏基因组测序(metagenomic sequencing)技术,对采集自泰国北部乡村散户猪场的猪粪便样本中的DNA病毒组(fecal DNA virome)开展了系统筛查分析。该研究区域拥有大量猪只散户猪场,猪只饲养密度较高,同时也是日本脑炎病毒(Japanese encephalitis virus)、戊型肝炎病毒(hepatitis E virus)等猪源传染病的偶发高发热点区域。
