Traditom II

A large number of European traditional varieties have been developed by local farmers ever since tomato was introduced to Europe from America in the 16th century. The aim of TRADITOM is to valorise the genetic diversity stored in traditional tomato varieties and to increase their resilience to foster their conservation and increase their competitiveness in the global and local market. Over 1700 varieties from several varieties have been collected and deposited in public germplasm banks. Academic scientist, companies, farmer associations, consumers have been involved in the project. Varieties have been characterized using consensus descriptors, agronomic traits, genomic and metabolomics tools.

自16世纪番茄从美洲传入欧洲以来，当地农民已培育出大量欧洲传统番茄品种。TRADITOM项目旨在充分挖掘并利用传统番茄品种中蕴藏的遗传多样性资源，提升其抗逆性能，以此推动该类品种的保护工作，并增强它们在全球及本地市场的竞争力。目前项目组已收集并保存了1700余份来自多个类群的番茄品种资源，并存入公共种质资源库。本项目吸纳了学术科研人员、企业、农民协会及消费者等多方参与。研究团队通过共识描述符、农艺性状鉴定、基因组学与代谢组学技术对各供试品种进行了系统表征分析。
