Winter and early spring CO2 losses in a montane peatland are amplified by foehn winds

This study quantifies the impact of chinook (foehn) wind events on ecosystem respiration (ER) in a montane peatland on the eastern slopes of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Chinook winds are warm, dry downslope winds that can raise air temperatures by over 20 °C within hours. ER was measured using eddy covariance at Sibbald fen (1480 m, 130 ha, 51°03’29.38” N, 114°52’11.66” W). Data spans (February 2021 - April 2021) at 30-minute resolution, quality-controlled following standard flux processing protocols. The dataset includes ER, meteorological variables, and chinook event classifications.
