Microbiome profiling in injection drug users with and without HIV-1 infection in Puerto Rico

The goal of this project was to determine the effect of injection drug use on the fecal bacterial communities of patients with and without HIV-1 infection. The bacterial communities were characterized using targeted amplicon sequencing of the V4 hypervariable region of the 16S rRNA gene using Illumina paired-end sequencing.

本研究旨在查明注射吸毒对伴或不伴人类免疫缺陷病毒1型（HIV-1）感染患者粪便细菌群落的影响。研究采用Illumina双端测序技术，对16S rRNA基因的V4高变区进行靶向扩增子测序，以此完成粪便细菌群落的表征。
