Direct activation of an innate immune system in bacteria by a viral capsid protein

We investigated the activation mechanism of a fused toxin-antitoxin system in bacteria called CapRel(SJ46) and demonstrated that it is directly activated by the major capsid protein of certain bacteriophages.
