Fruit flies (Diptera: Tephritidae) are among the most important pests of fruit and vegetables worldwide. Economic effects of pest species include not only direct loss of yield and increased control costs, but also the loss of export markets and/or the cost of constructing and maintaining fruit treatment and eradication facilities. Infestation by fruit flies is a major constraint to local and export production of tropical fruits in Ethiopia. This study is proposed with following objectives: 1) to determine the species composition and relative abundance of fruit flies attacking mangoes, sweet orange and guava 2) to study the population dynamics of fruit flies 3) to study host specialization of fruit flies and factors that affect this process on different tropical fruits 4) to determine the extent of yield and monetory loss on mangoes sweet orange and guava caused by fruit flies 5) to establish distribution map of fruit fly species in Ethiopia 6) to evaluate comparative performance of different attractants for fruit fly monitoring and control.

实蝇(双翅目:实蝇科Tephritidae)是全球范围内果蔬产业最为重要的害虫类群之一。该类害虫造成的经济影响不仅涵盖直接减产与防控成本攀升,还包括出口市场丧失,以及果品处理与害虫根除设施的建设与运维成本。在埃塞俄比亚,实蝇侵染是当地热带果品本土生产与出口业务的主要制约瓶颈。 本研究拟定以下研究目标: 1. 明确为害芒果、甜橙与番石榴的实蝇物种组成及相对多度; 2. 探究实蝇的种群动态规律; 3. 研究实蝇的寄主专化性及其在不同热带果品上影响该专化性形成的相关因素; 4. 明确实蝇为害芒果、甜橙及番石榴所造成的减产与经济损失程度; 5. 绘制埃塞俄比亚境内实蝇物种的空间分布图谱; 6. 评估不同引诱剂在实蝇监测与防控中的综合应用效果。
