These are press copies of letters sent by the Under Secretary of the Department of Public Instruction. This series, together with the series Copies of letters sent concerning the administration of Public Schools, 1880-96 (1/727, 1/729-30, 1/1019-1148), forms the out-letters of the Department. The letters refer mainly to the establishment of new schools, repairs and buildings, attendance, prosecutions, remission of school fees, finance, Technical Education, and similar matters.
