In this study, we conducted vigilance, gaze aversion and escape flight assays on a population of house sparrows inhabiting a chronically lead-polluted city. We found that in higher-leaded areas sparrows were more vigilant, and displayed aversion towards direct human gaze, compared to lower-leaded areas, whereas higher-leaded birds were marginally worse at escape flight.
本研究针对栖息于长期受铅污染城市的家麻雀种群，开展了警戒行为、凝视回避行为及逃逸飞行行为测试。研究发现，相较于低铅污染区域，高铅污染区域内的家麻雀表现出更强的警戒性，且对人类直视呈现出更明显的凝视回避行为；然而高铅暴露的家麻雀在逃逸飞行能力上略有下降。
