Light chain amyloid fibrils from multiple myeloma patient (case 2), abdominal fat biopsy

In this study, we used minimally invasive abdominal fat biopsies routinely performed in clinical practice, to obtain amyloid fibrils from living MM patient. Using cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) and mass spectrometry (MS), we successfully determined the sequence and high-resolution structure of light chain fibril.

本研究采用临床实践中常规开展的微创腹部脂肪活检术，从活体多发性骨髓瘤（Multiple Myeloma，MM）患者体内获取淀粉样蛋白纤维。借助冷冻电子显微镜（cryo-electron microscopy，简称cryo-EM）与质谱分析法（mass spectrometry，简称MS），成功解析了轻链纤维的氨基酸序列与高分辨率空间结构。
