The purpose of this data set was to measure how the expression of proteins in rectal biopsies is affected by use of topical tenofovir gel for prevention of HIV infection. Proteins were measured by mass spectrometry from samples taken from the MTN-014 study at baseline and after two weeks of rectal or vaginal gel application.In the raw_data tab, each row is a sample. There are several columns describing each sample and then many columns containing the expression level for each detected protein. Expression levels were adjusted for batch effects using ComBat.In the data_dictionary tab, the columns of the raw_data tab are explained.In the protein_lookup tab, there is one row per protein detected, mapping from UniProt ID to gene symbol and Entrez Gene ID.
