S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) is a donor of the methyl group for methyltransferases. SAM synthase (SAMS) creates SAM from methionine and ATP. In C. elegans, the smas genes are essential for normal development. In this project, we are going to elucidate effects of sams mutations on histone methylation.
S-腺苷甲硫氨酸(S-adenosylmethionine,SAM)是甲基转移酶的甲基供体。SAM合酶(SAM synthase,SAMS)可由甲硫氨酸与三磷酸腺苷(ATP)合成SAM。在秀丽隐杆线虫(C. elegans)中,smas基因对其正常发育至关重要。本研究旨在阐明sams突变对组蛋白甲基化的影响。
