Abundance and daily vertical patterns of larvae and transforming stages of oceanic fish throughout the water column in the Northeast Atlantic in May-June 2018 [Dataset]

This dataset gives information on the vertical distribution and abundance of early stages of meso and bathypelagic fishes throughout the daily cycle in the Northeast Atlantic Ocean. The larvae of the majority of species were found in the upper 100 m of the water column, both day and night. Transforming stages of myctophiforms and stomiiforms tend to be located at deeper depths during the day than at night. The most abundant specimens collected with the MOCNESS plankton net were the adults and juveniles of Cyclothone species, which do not show significant differences in vertical distributions between day and night

本数据集记录了东北大西洋海域内中层与深层大洋鱼类早期发育阶段的垂直分布特征与种群丰度，覆盖全日昼夜周期的观测数据。绝大多数物种的仔鱼在昼夜时段均栖息于水体上层100米范围之内。灯笼鱼目（Myctophiformes）与巨口鱼目（Stomiiformes）的变态发育个体，日间栖息深度通常较夜间更深。采用MOCNESS浮游生物网采集得到的丰度最高的标本为圆罩鱼属（Cyclothone）的成体与幼体，该类群的垂直分布在昼夜时段间无显著差异。
