CO oxidation of Pt/CTF samples in presence of water vapor.

This proposal aims to study the effect on water vapor during the CO oxidation reaction over Pt particles dispersed on CaTi1-xFexO3-# support, with x=0, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4. This novel support material shows catalytic activities similar to ceria, converting CO already at room temperature. Interestingly we observe, that the CO conversion is favoured in presence of water vapor in the gas feed (CO+O2+H2O, “wet conditions”). We believe that this significant enhance in catalytic performance, is due to the formations of extremely water derived active species (e.g hydroxyl and/or carboxyl) on top of the Pt nanoparticles and to strong metal-support interaction (creation of Pt-Fe bonds). Using operando photon-in/photon-out spectroscopy we will study the electronic structure and local coordination of Fe and Pt.
