THE PRINCIPLE AND CAPABILITIES OF THE COWRIE HONEYPOT SYSTEM

This article analyzes the operating principle, architecture, and role of the Cowrie honeypot system in providing modern cybersecurity. The Cowrie system allows attracting cyberattackers, tracking their movements, as well as analyzing attack methods by emulating SSH and Telnet services. During the study, the capabilities of the Cowrie honeypot to record the authentication process, record commands, monitor file upload activity, and analyze log data were explored. The obtained results indicate that the Cowrie system is an effective tool for early detection of cyberattacks, collecting information about threats, and improving the security of information systems.
