Biogeographical characterization of the gut microbiome in ulcerative colitis. human gut microbiome

Gut microbiota imbalances can potentiate pathogenesis in ulcerative colitis (UC), an inflammatory bowel disease subtype with no defined cause or cure. To understand the mechanistic impacts of this microbial imbalance and its concomitant impact on the host at local gastrointestinal sites, we biogeographically characterized the gut microbiota of treatment-naive pediatric UC patients and non-UC control participants.
