FEP / MIR soil spectroscopy - chemometric analysis

These datasets contain soil property measurements and mid-infrared (MIR) spectral data collected as part of a Master's thesis examining the effects of a Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene (FEP) film covering on the performance of a handheld Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectrometer for soil analysis. The deposit includes three spectral files: direct soil measurements (control), measurements collected through an FEP film (indirect), and spectra of the FEP film alone. Also included are the USGS soil properties reference table and the R script used for spectral processing and statistical analyses. These datasets were used to evaluate whether a handheld mid-infrared spectrometer with FTIR technology can accurately measure soil properties when a protective FEP film is placed over the lens of the instrument.
