<b>Description of data</b>: The dataset is a record of the number of adult offspring produced by F2 Spiroplasma-transinfected and -uninfected females. For each day there is a record of the number of males and females that emerged, followed by the total number of flies emerged. The D. simulans strain used was F15, which is infected with Wolbachia. Data is in xlsl format. <br><br><b>Description of methods for data collection</b>: Microinjections were carried out as described by Nakayama et al, 2015. The number of adult offspring produced by the F2 generation of infected parental females was counted. Each F2 female was placed with two uninfected males in a vial of fly medium to mate. They were moved into fresh vials every day for five days to allow continuous oviposition. On the sixth day, adult flies were removed, and the females were screened for Spiroplasma. The eclosed offspring from days 2 to 5 were counted. <br><br><b>Column headings</b>:<br><b>Column A</b>- Group: Independent D. simulans lines with alternative nomenclature (a, b, c and d) for easy ordering in R.<br><b>Column B</b>- Line: Independent D. simulans lines (b, c1 and c2) derived from successfully transinfected females and an uninfected control (control).<br><b>Column C</b>- Infection.status: Spiroplasma infection status of D. simulans.
