Photographs of Private Frank Kelty's Diary (2)

My Great Uncle Private Frank Kelty (1714 ) joined the 2nd / 10th Manchester Regiment in 1916. He died on the 5th of September 1916, at which time he was attached to the King's Liverpool Regiment, and is buried in Euston Road Cemetery in France.

I was told he had joined under age and his elder brother informed the authorities and he left the army and went to work in munitions.

He then rejoined the army when he was old enough, but it is apparent from his diary entries that he had done so very reluctantly.

We believe that the damage to the diary was caused by shrapnel that we also believe resulted in his death. He had made daily entries in the diary up until the 29th August 1916. This leads me to believe that this date was the day he was wounded.

我的叔祖父、二等兵弗兰克·凯尔蒂（Frank Kelty，编号1714）于1916年加入曼彻斯特第2/10团。他于1916年9月5日逝世，彼时正隶属于利物浦国王团，并安葬于法国的尤斯顿路公墓。据闻，他最初入伍时尚未成年，其兄长向当局告发后，他便退伍转入军需品行业工作。待年龄达标后，他再次入伍，但从其日记内容可见，此次参军并非情愿。我们推测，日记的损毁由弹片所致，而这枚弹片亦可能是造成他死亡的原因。他的日记每日更新至1916年8月29日，据此可推断该日即为他负伤之日。日记部分内容的誊本已另行提交。
