Microbiota Research on Chinses Obesity

Obesity has become a global threat to human health and is a major risk for metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. Body mass index(BMI) is the most well-accepted indicator to define obesity. However, the BMI is not suitable for Chinese. The characteristic of Chinese obesity is central style. The waist circumference is the key criteria for central obesity. Here, 2058 samples' faeces were collected and extracted for metagenome analysis. The purpose of the study is that we hope to find the new formula for evaluating obesity of Chinese.

肥胖已成为威胁人类健康的全球性公共卫生问题，同时也是代谢性疾病与心血管疾病的主要危险因素。体质量指数（Body Mass Index, BMI）是当前最广为认可的肥胖判定指标，但其并不适用于中国人群。中国人群的肥胖特征以中心型肥胖为主，腰围则是判定中心型肥胖的关键标准。本研究共采集2058份粪便样本，进行样本提取并开展宏基因组（metagenome）分析，旨在探索适用于中国人群的肥胖评估新公式。
