Archilochus colubris Genome sequencing

Genomic studies of the ruby-throated hummingbird are warranted and necessary for further understanding of these fine-tuned metabolic systems. Here we produce a chromosome level hybrid genome assembly of the ruby-throated hummingbird. Because many of the proteins involved in cellular metabolism are quite large, we annotated the genome using a combination of Illumina RNA-seq and Oxford Nanopore cDNA sequencing from muscle and liver tissues to identify full coding sequences and multiple encoded isoforms.

为进一步解析这类精密调控的代谢系统，开展针对红玉喉北蜂鸟（ruby-throated hummingbird）的基因组学研究实属必要且亟待推进。本研究构建了该物种的染色体级杂合基因组组装结果。鉴于参与细胞代谢的多数蛋白分子量较大，本研究结合肌肉与肝脏组织的Illumina RNA测序（Illumina RNA-seq）及牛津纳米孔cDNA测序（Oxford Nanopore cDNA sequencing）数据对基因组进行注释，以鉴定完整编码序列及多种编码异构体。
