资源简介:

This dataset contains experimental and simulation data for the characterization of passive Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RISs) operating in the sub-THz band around 300 GHz. The dataset includes three static phase-quantized RIS implementations with different phase resolutions: 1-bit, 2-bit, and 3-bit metasurfaces, designed to enable controlled anomalous reflection and beam steering in indoor environments. The RISs consist of planar arrays of subwavelength unit cells (approximately 100 × 100 elements within a 5 × 5 cm² aperture), optimized to redirect incident waves into predefined non-specular directions. The different phase quantization levels allow comparative analysis of the impact of phase resolution on beamforming performance, directivity, scattering behaviour, and spurious reflections. In particular, the 3-bit RIS provides the highest beamforming fidelity and reduced parasitic scattering compared to the lower-resolution implementations. Dataset Contents The dataset includes: Measurement Data Experimental measurements of the RIS angular scattering response over a wide angular range (approximately −90° to −10.2° and 10.2° to 90°), and across frequencies from 220 GHz to 330 GHz with 0.1 GHz resolution. Measurements are provided for the 1-bit, 2-bit, and 3-bit RIS implementations. The data capture the frequency- and angle-dependent behaviour of the RISs, including the main reflected beam as well as secondary scattering components. Simulation Data Electromagnetic simulation results (approximately 280–328 GHz) derived from full-wave models of the corresponding RIS structures. These simulation results are provided for all considered phase quantization levels and support comparison with measurements as well as interpretation of the RIS radiation characteristics. RIS geometry data is also included in the dataset (top and bottom metallic patterns, and substrate properties, for all 3 versions). Processing and Visualization Code MATLAB code is included to reproduce representative radiation/scattering pattern plots and compare measured and simulated results for the different RIS configurations. The operating frequency and RIS configuration can be selected by modifying parameters in the script. Associated Publications The dataset is associated with scientific publications describing the RIS designs, measurement campaigns, and channel characterization activities at ~300 GHz. Context and Relevance This dataset supports the analysis of RIS-assisted propagation at sub-THz frequencies, where high propagation loss and blockage significantly impact wireless communication systems. The measurements capture realistic RIS behaviour, including dominant anomalous reflections and secondary scattering effects, which are important for accurate channel modelling and system-level evaluation. By including multiple RIS phase resolutions (1-bit, 2-bit, and 3-bit), the dataset also enables comparative studies on the trade-offs between hardware complexity and beamforming performance in sub-THz RIS designs. The dataset is particularly relevant for: Sub-THz channel modeling and validation RIS beamforming and scattering characterization Evaluation of phase quantization effects in RIS performance Development of ray-based and simplified propagation models Evaluation of frequency-dependent RIS effects Format The dataset is organized into folders containing measurement data, simulation results, and MATLAB scripts. Data are provided in standard numerical formats (e.g., MATLAB-compatible files) to facilitate reuse, reproducibility, and further analysis by the research community.
